Posted: 3/10/04 Forest Lake falls to Roseville to end regular season
Joe Drennan Fridayís game against Roseville could be called a warm-up for the section 4AAAA playoffs for the Forest Lake High School boys basketball team. The Rangers hosted Roseville Friday night, the same team they will meet in the opening round of section playoffs tonight, Thursday, at Roseville. Roseville jumped out to an early 20-9 lead after the first quarter. The Rangers came fighting back in the second quarter to come within seven by the half as Roseville led 30-23. Being the last regular season home game of the year, it was also senior night. During halftime, the five senior players; Collin Autheir, Chris Conley, Tom Frericks, Steve Korthals, and Ross Miller, recognized teachers that influenced them the most during their time in high school. Authier recognized Henry Herbert, Conley chose Mike Altavill, Frericks selected Don Thompson, Korthals, picked Tom Hipkins, and Miller chose Jim Lindstrom. Four of the five teachers were able to attend the game where they were presented a certificate of appreciation and a T-shirt thanking them with the names of the seniors. Foreign exchange student Johannes Ruebsamen was recognized as well. Ruebsamen is from Germany and will return home to finish two more years of school after this season. After all the halftime ceremonies were done, the Rangers continued their fight for the lead, outscoring Roseville 14-11 in the third quarter to bring them within four points of tying the game. Roseville found their scoring touch again in the fourth quarter and secured a victory as they outscored the Rangers 17-15 to win the game 58-52. Frericks led the Rangers with ten points, while Miller and Noah Lawson both had nine points. Nate Robertson and Autheir both had seven points, and Conley scored six. The Rangers next game is at Roseville tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. |
