ISD 831 Title I funds cut $50,872

A reduction in federal funding to the state of Minnesota will have a ripple affect on funding to ISD 831 for the 2004-2005 fiscal year. According to the Minnesota Department of Education last week, Forest Lake will see a reduction of Title I funding amounting to 15 percent or $50,872. The reduction is part of a 40 percent federal cut to Minnesota. Title I funds are used to provide reading and mathematics help to elementary students. According to state figures released last week, ISD 831 will see a decrease in Title I funding from $339,149 to $288,277. State officials said one of the districtís hit hardest by the change in allocation was the Anoka-Hennepin district where a Title I loss of $1.1 million is expected. Princeton was hit with a $70,000 cut, department of education officials said.
