For the eighth consecutive year the City of Wyoming maintenance department has received a certificate of commendation from the MPCA complimenting its employees for their operation of the cityís wastewater treatment plant.

Mayor Vern Haag read the citation recognizing the departmentís efforts. From October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2003, the letter from the MPCA confirmed ěoutstanding management of wastewater treatment.î

Maintenance Supervisor Bill Eisenmenger, present for the announcement, accepted congratulations of the council on behalf of his crew. The plant was placed on-line in 1996 and has received the commendation every year since then.

Council unanimously passed a resolution allocating bank qualification authority to county bonds for library facilities. The proposal was first presented at the Feb. 17 meeting by Carolyn Drude, Ehlers and Associates, but the council requested more time to study the proposal.

Sellers of bank qualified bonds generally pay a lower interest rate. A city or county may only issue $10 million of bank qualified debt a year. Chisago County has issued its allotment for the year and has requested cities benefiting from the new libraries to allow the county to issue the bonds under their bank qualification.

The resolution means Wyoming will grant Chisago County $2.26 million for bank qualified authority to sell the library bonds. The action does not place the city at any financial risk.
