VFW Post 4210 sends Girl Scout cookies to Kosovo
Photo By Cliff Buchan Thanks to the efforts of North Branch Brownie Troop 2453 member Hailie Corner, 6, her mom Jennifer Corner and VFW Post 4210 in Forest Lake, 200 boxes of Girl Scout cookies are being shipped to Kosovo where most of the springtime treats will be distributed to troops in U.S. military hospitals. The Stacy youth came up with the cookie idea as a way to help her Godfather and uncle, Sgt. Lance Corner who is a medic with the Army Reserves in Kosovo. Jennifer Corner, right, approached the Forest Lake VFW Post last week and club manager Keith Hegstrom, left, was quick to pledge the post's support to help the troops. Post 4210 purchased 100 boxes of cookies at $3.50 each and paid for the mail containers and postage to ship the 200 boxes of cookies to the troops. Through Lance Corner, troops in Bosnia placed orders for about 100 boxes of the always-popular Girl Scout cookies. Hegstrom and Corner were busy at the Forest Lake Post Office Thursday, Feb. 26 packing the cookies for mailing.
