County will open Big Marine launch

The Washington County Board of Commissioners last week granted the parks division approval to open the boat launch at the former Shady Birch Resort on Big Marine Lake by Memorial Day weekend. Shady Birch Resort became the property of Washington County Parks on May 3. The former resort is a key parcel in opening the countyís Big Marine Park Reserve to the general public. Jim Luger, parks director, said limited use of the existing boat launch will be available this year, but an improved boat launch will be constructed for public use in 2005.
