May 17 is 1st-half property tax due date

Area residents who are preparing to make their first-half property tax payments will get a two-day grace period this year. First half taxes are normally due on May 15, but May 15 is a Saturday, the due date automatically moves to Monday, May 17, according to Washington County tax officials. Payments made in person or postmarked May 17, 2004 will be considered timely with no late payment penalty assessed. Payments are accepted until 5 p.m. at the Department of Assessment, Taxpayer Services and Elections in the County Government Center in Stillwater. Payments are also accepted at any of the three Washington County License Centers Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 to noon. The first half installment on manufactured homes is due Aug. 15. Call 651-430-6175 for questions about deadlines or tax payments.
