School will change start times this fall
Acting as a means to help relieve some of the traffic congestion on roads near Forest Lake High School and Century Junior High School, secondary school start times will change this fall. The school board on May 3 approved an administrative recommendation to make the changes. The most significant change involves the high school. Starting this fall, the a.m. bell will be 8 a.m. with student drop-off from 7:30-7:45. For the current school year, the morning drop-off is 7:20-7:30 with class starting at 7:40 a.m. The last class at the high school will end at 2:30 p.m. next fall compared to the current final bell time of 2:10 p.m. Century Junior High will have its first a.m. bell at 7:43 a.m. this fall compared to the current 7:45 a.m. school start. Southwest Junior High School will see its current 7:50 a.m. first bell moved back to 7:42 a.m. this fall. Centuryís school day will end at 2:13 p.m. this fall compared to 2:25 now while Southwest will end at 2:12 compared to the current 2:30 p.m. end time. Because of the secondary changes and new shuttle bus times, minor adjustments will follow for the ALC at the Central Learning Center, the Montessori School at the CLC, St. Peterís parochial school and the two public charter schools, North Lakes Academy and Lakes International Academy. No start time changes will take place at public elementary schools.
