Township OKís road work bids

The consideration of blacktopping bids for Jocelyn Avenue, Jocelyn Court and 286th Street came before the Wyoming Town Board May 11.

On a motion by Supervisor Ron Swenson, the board voted to award the bid to the low bidder, Peterson Landscaping, at $87,169.50.

There were three bids received for blacktopping 245th Street. Following discussion, the board unanimously voted to award the bid to low bidder, Peterson Landscaping at $74,242.

Liquor license renewals were discussed. Following discussion it was moved by Roger Elmore, seconded by Jeff Eiffler and unanimously passed to recommend approval off-sales liquor license for County Line Liquor and a 3.2 malt liquor license for Super America.

The board received rates and options for renewal of the employee benefit package for health and dental insurance.The personnel committee will review the data and make a recommendation at the next meeting.

At the request of Judy Coughlin, the board authorized expenditure of up to $150 for signs advertising the comprehensive plan open house at Maranatha Church 4-8 p.m., Monday, May 24.

It was requested that town street superintendent Byron Olson explore options for making the speed signs on Itasca Avenue more visible.

Bids for July Avenue street improvements were received.

Four bids were received and Dresel Contracting, Inc. was the low bidder. Following discussion about distribution of costs for rebuilding the base and blacktopping the surface, and on recommendation of the town engineer, the board voted to table a decision on awarding the bid to improve July Avenue. until the June 22 meeting when they will have more information on possible contributions toward the cost.

Annexation mediation sessions are taking place with Chisago City with the next session set today (Thursday).

A closed session of the town board to discuss the legal action will take place May 25, following the next regularly scheduled meeting.

Also at the next meeting, the board will discuss progress on the proposed plat, The Preserve at Birch Lake, which has a new owner who hopes to begin work on the plat improvements in June according to Engineer Mark Erickson.

Erickson said he will be reviewing the plans and specs this month. He said he will meet with the new owner to discuss inclusion of July Avenue blacktopping in the developerís agreement.

Erickson also received board approval to approach Chisago Lake Township and Chisago County and request that public sewer and water system in the plat be included in the township developerís agreement for both inspection and construction review.
