Day taps Bachmann for Senate role
District 52 State Sen. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, has been tapped for a Minnesota State Senate leadership role in the 2005 legislative session. Senate Minority Leader Sen. Dick Day last week announced that Bachmann will serve as an assistant to the Republican minority leader during the next session. Bachmann is one of two Senate Republicans named assistants to Day. In naming Bachmann as an assistant minority leader, Day pointed to Bachmannís leadership role in the repeal of the Profile of Learning and the push for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage as key issues for the partyís social conservatives.
