County budgets for FL library, NSC

A preliminary capital improvement plan now under review by the Washington County Board includes funds for a new county library, the North Service Center, a park-and-ride facility and CR-2 work in Forest Lake. The county board Oct. 26 reviewed a draft budget for capital improvement spending for 2005-2009. The first year spending includes $5.2 million for the new 25,000 square foot library to be constructed on the community center site south of N. 202nd St. Construction is slated in 2005 with the library to open in 2006, said Molly OíRourke, deputy county administrator. The budget for 2005 also includes $5.8 million for land acquisition and construction of the North Service Center to house court services, the license bureau and other county government programs that operate in the Forest Lake area. An additional $425,000 is in the budget for the park-and-ride facility proposed on the community center site. The budget also has $1.5 million for CR-2 (W. Broadway) design work in 2005 The proposed CIP now goes to municipalities in the county for review and comment. The total budget for 2005 is $15,846,000 while the total five-year CIP for 2005-2009 is $246,956,000. A public hearing will take place later this year following the review and comment period.
