Challengers oust 3 Wyoming incumbents

There will be no incumbents returning to office in the city of Wyoming next year.

With more than 2000 ballots cast on Tuesday, three challengers for two city council seats and the job of mayor claimed election.

In the race for mayor, a two-year term, challenger Sheldon Anderson knocked off incumbent Mayor Vern Haag by a near 3 to 1 margin.

Anderson won the contest with 1517 votes. Haag pulled in 523 votes.

In the race for the two four-year city council terms, challengers Thomas Labarre and Allen Juneau were victorious and sent incumbents Sandy Standridge and Lynn Koalska to defeat.

Juneau was the top vote-getter in the council race with 1080 while Labarre received 1076. Standridge, seeking her third term on council, was third with 666 votes while Koalska had 585 votes.
