Rangers move on in section play

In the first round of section 4AA playoffs, the Forest Lake High School girls tennis team had no problem defeating North Branch 6-1.

The Rangers swept all four singles matches in straight sets. Paige Patchin started the team off with a 6-2, 6-4 victory, followed by an easy 6-1, 6-0 win by Katie Anderson, then a 6-0, 6-0 win by Hilary Framke and finally a 6-0, 6-1 win by Steph England. In doubles play, the teams of Liz Klein and Chelsea Sager, and Quinne Patchin and Jenny Coozenoy won in straight sets.

ėThis was an easy first round win for us,î Rangers head coach Greg Patchin said. ėNow we move on to play Centennial.î

Heading into the section 4AA playoffs, the Rangers played a warm-up match against Chisago Lakes last Tuesday. The Rangers had no trouble with Chisago Lakes, winning the match 6-1.

In singles play, Paige Patchin won her match in straight 6-0, 6-0 set, as did Anderson. Klein won her match 6-1, 6-3.

The Rangers swept all three doubles matches. Framke and England won 6-2, 6-4, then Alexa Nelson and Maddy Raasch followed them up with a 6-1, 7-6 victory. The number three doubles tandem of Quinne Patchin and Coozenoy also won 6-1, 6-0.

The Rangers defeated 4AA rival Blaine last Thursday as well by a score of 4-3 to end the regular season.

Paige Patchin and Klein won their singles matches, then the doubles team of Anderson and Framke gave the Rangers the lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Going into the last match of the game with the score tied 3-3, Quinne Patchin and Coozenoy pulled out a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give the Rangers a final regular season record of 9-5.

ėThis was a good match to end the regular season on,î Patchin said.
