Girls track takes second at FL Invite

Eight first place finishes last Thursday helped the Forest Lake High School girls track team finish second behind Tartan and Stillwater who tied for first. Tartan and Stillwater both finished with 107 points with the Rangers right behind them with 104 points. Woodbury finished in a distant fourth.
The Rangers started the invite off with a first place victory in the 4x100 meter relay as they finished with a time of 72.17. The Rangers followed up with a second place finish in the 1600 meter race with a time of 5:41.09.
The Rangers had first place finishes in the discus team with 722 feet 6 inches, discus individual with a winning distance of 128 feet 11 inches, shot put team with 89 feet 113?4 inches, shot put individual with the winning distance of 36 feet 1?4 inch, the 200 meter race with a time of 26.47, high jump team with a height of 14 feet and pole vault with a winning height of nine feet.
The Rangers also had second place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles, triple jump team, long jump, long jump team, high jump and pole vault team.
Last Tuesday Becky Alexander broke her own school record in the discus. Alexander had set the mark at 126 feet, six inches, but shattered that record with a throw of 135 feet, four inches at the Woodbury Open.
The Rangers next meet is April 26 at Mounds View at 3:30 p.m.
