I-35 corridor meeting here May 5

Interested in learning more about the future of the I-35 corridor and how it may impact the Forest Lake area?

For those wishing to learn more, keep Thursday, May 5 open.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an I-35 Corridor Open House from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2005 at VFW Post 4210, 556 SW 12th St.

The open house will provide information on the corridor vision, study findings and results, identified corridor improvements and prioritization of the improvements. Residents and city, county and township staff as well as elected officials are encouraged to attend.

The Corridor Management Plan is focused on preserving and enhancing the safety and mobility of I-35 including I-35W and I-35E from the Interstate 494/694 Twin Cities Beltway to TH-48 in Hinckley.

The plan is also intended to assist communities by providing a long-term transportation planning framework for their communities.

In addition to creating a long-term vision and management plan for the I-35 corridor, the corridor planning process is intended to develop and enhance relationships between corridor partners.

According to MnDOT, many of the interregional corridors, including I-35, are experiencing increased congestion and growth pressures, which limit their ability to deliver safe and efficient transportation service.

To preserve and enhance mobility and safety, and to better plan for the future needs of the I-35 corridor, Mn/DOT established a broad-based Corridor Partnership to develop a long-term, performance-based corridor plan.

This open house provides an opportunity to review the results of the study. Information is also available on the study web site-http://projects.dot.state.mn.us/srf/035n/
