LABA will hear Rep. Krinkie Aug. 17
State Rep. Phil Krinkie, R-Lino Lakes, will be the guest speaker at the Lakes Area Business Association meeting at noon Wednesday, Aug. 17 at the Cornerstone Pub and Prime in Wyoming. Krinkie serves on a key House tax committee and has earned a reputation as ěDr. Noî for his steadfast resistance to tax increases and government growth. On July 26, he was chosen by Americans For Tax Reform of Washington, D.C. as its ěHero of the Monthî for July. The national group honored Krinkie for his continued efforts to block any tax increase at the state level and for refusing to bow to pressure from Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty and others who were pushing for tax increases on cigarettes and other tobacco products. After breaking from the governor, Krinkie resigned as co-chair of the tax working group that negotiated budget issues during the special session. The Aug. 17 gathering in Wyoming is open to the public. For reservations for the luncheon or more information, call 651-464-5390 or visit www.lmek.com\laba.
