Roche L. Martin and Jan Masterson have been hired as new elementary principals in ISD 831. Martin is the new school leader at Linwood Elementary. Masterson is taking over at Lino Lakes Elementary. The school board on Aug. 4 approved an administration recommendation to hire the pair. Martin, who has degrees from Moorhead State University and St. Cloud State University, comes to Forest Lake from Robbinsdale where he was a principal since 1998. He previously worked as a principal in the Elk River and Appleton schools and was a classroom teacher in West Fargo, ND, and Clear Lake, SD. Masterson, who has degrees from St. Maryís University and Winona State University, joins the Lino Lakes staff after working as director of curriculum, instruction and staff development at St. Michael-Albertville since 2001. She has worked as an elementary principal in Spring Lake Park and was a classroom teacher in Illinois and California public schools and at Spring Lake Park from 1974 to 2001.
