Columbus Township citizens united quickly after hearing that a small group of property owners on the east side of I-35 petitioned to be annexed by Forest Lake. The citizens from the community banded together and amassed 242 signatures of residents to petition to incorporate the township.

The petition for incorporation was presented to the town board at Wednesday nightís town board meeting. At the time 198 of the 242 signatures had been verified. More signatures supporting incorporation were also submitted to the board at the meeting. Only 100 valid signatures are needed for the petition to be valid.

The board accepted the petition and chose to fast track their filing for incorporation.

The board is also going to draft a letter to present facts to the Forest Lake city council at their next meeting regarding the Columbus freeway district.
