The Washington County Board of Commissioners on July 26 approved letters of support from both the county board and the Washington County Regional Rail Authority regarding the city of Hugoís efforts to solicit federal funding for improvement of US-61 between 140th and 150th Street N. in Hugo. The rail authority owns property which would be impacted by such an improvement. The county board noted last week that without improvements, projected growth in that area would increase demands on the road, resulting in congestion and safety concerns. The letters were passed during the regular session of the county board and while the county board was meeting as the rail authority.
