FL Relay for Life this Friday night
Many will gather at Forest Lake High School on Friday, Aug. 5 for an annual event that holds much meaning to many area residents: Relay for Life.
Bringing family and friends together, the event was organized to help the fight against cancer and raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Beginning at the high school track at 6:30 p.m., an opening ceremony will kick-off the event. The ceremony will include invocation, the National Anthem and sponsor recognition.
The keynote speaker for the night will be Philip Lindau, President and CEO of Commodity Specialists Company, and a two-time cancer survivor. A native of Howard Lake, Lindau currently resides in Minneapolis with his wife, Nancy. The couple has two married children and five grandsons.
The ìSurvivor Lapî will take place at 7:15 p.m., with the ìLighting Ceremony,î which includes the lighting of luminarias, will begin at 9:30 p.m.
Other Relay for Life events include:
ï 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ó Silent auction.
ï 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ó Kids area.
ï 6 p.m. ó Food wagon. The food will be served until it is gone.
ï Music will begin after the ìSurvivor Lapî and will be ongoing till 1 a.m.
ï The Market Place at Relay for Life will start at 6 p.m. and will be ongoing throughout the night.
ï 10 p.m. ó Drawing for a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire.
ï 6 a.m. ó Wrap-up announcements. The grand total amount raised and individual and team winners will be announced.
