Dayton announces fire aid for Marine

The Marine on St. Croix Fire Department is in line for federal funding, U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton has announced. Dayton said $42,750 is coming to the Marine Fire Department to pay for fire operations and fire safety. The funds are being awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters program, administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. ìMinnesotaís firefighters put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe,î Dayton said. ìWe must provide these brave men and women with the training, equipment, and resources they need to do their jobs and to protect our citizens.î The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Securityís Office of Domestic Preparedness, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration, helps rural, urban, and suburban fire departments throughout the United States to prepare for emergencies and acts of terrorism. This is the 15th round of awards this year, with seven fire departments in Minnesota receiving a total of $298,805.
