A 13-year-old Wyoming girl was killed Friday night when the car she was riding in lost control and collided with a pickup on TH-97 in Forest Lake.
The crash claimed the life of Hannah Pearson, 13. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, she was one of two passengers in a Ford Probe driven by her sister, Bethany Pearson, 16.
The crash happened at 9:26 p.m. on the TH-97 curve just west of US-61. According to the State Patrol, the Pearson car was southbound on US-61 when it made the turn west and went out of control.
The patrol said the Pearson car crossed the center line, spun out and was hit broadside by an eastbound 1999 Chevrolet pickup driven by Gerald Steffen, 57, of Osceola, WI.
The Pearson sisters were airlifted to Regions Hospital where Hanna Pearson later died, the patrol said.
The second passenger, Angie Carlson, 14, of Hugo, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale.
Carlson and Bethany Pearson were listed in critical condition early this week.
Steffen was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
The accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol. Roads were dry at the time of the crash.
