Alpine skiers debut at Wild Mountain Invitational

In its first race of the season, the combined Forest Lake High School alpine girls and boys team placed 15 of 28 teams in the recent Wild Mountain Invitational. This annual race traditionally draws some of the best teams in the state and is among the largest high school alpine meets in the country.
The top three girl finishers were sophomore Carly Bass, placing 31 out of 142 racers, freshman Nicky Kumerow placing 53rd and senior co-captain Allison Beebe placing 82nd.
The top three Ranger boy finishers were senior co-captain Erik Stolberg, placing 26 of 155 racers, sophomore co-captain Brett Stolberg placing 71st and seventh-grader Shaine Sampair placing 75th.
The Rangers first conference meet is Jan. 2 against Hastings at Welch Village.
