The Forest Lake High School boys basketball team is off to a 5-1 start thanks to two more victories this week, extending their winning streak to four games.
The Rangers began the week with a 61-46 victory over Irondale, then finished it off with a 51-48 victory over North Branch.
ìWe really played well against Irondale,î Rangers head coach Chuck Gunderson said. ìA lot of things came together for us and we played well defensively, taking away their (Irondaleís) top two strengths in outside shooting and rebounding.î
In the victory over Irondale Nate Robertson led the team in scoring with 19 points. The next top scorer for the Rangers was Josh Williams who had 12 points.
The Rangers rolled on and defeated North Branch thanks to having three players in double digits on the score sheet.
Drew Cremisino led the Rangers with 12 points while Corey Kuefler and Robertson each had 10 points.
ìWe really shot the ball well the last two games,î Gunderson said. ìWe were up in the first half, and up by as many as 11 with three minutes to go, but our three pointer percentage was down and that kind of hurt us.î
The Rangers will work on their three point shooting before they take part in the Hastings Holiday Tournament right after Christmas. The Rangers open the tournament with Andover on Dec. 26.
ìAndover will be a good test for us,î Gunderson said.
