A handful of Forest Lake business owners used the open forum portion of Mondayís Forest Lake City Council meeting to speak their peace.
The business owners were responding to notices sent to them by the city regarding trailer storage on their properties.
John Freed, owner of Forest Engineering, said he had ěsignificant concern about the new zoning plan and its impact on businesses.
ěStorage of trailers, this is a necessary part of this type of business,î Freed said.
Joel Hursh of Hursh Cabinets talked about his long history in this community.
ěIíve had accessory storage for 35 years,î he said.
Joel Osterbauer, owner of Wine and Roses Liquor, said all businesses should be treated equally.
ěIíve had a trailer there that I think Iíve kept a lot nicer looking than a lot of other things in Forest Lake,î he said. ěIf mine is going to go they all better go.î
Ron Genz of Ronís TV and Appliance said he needed the accessory storage for the trade-ins and warehouse purposes. He has a semi trailer parked at the loading dock.
ěItís a clean looking trailer. Itís not busted. Iím using it as a warehouse,î he said. ěI donít think Iíve got an eyesore. As a matter of a fact I think it looks better than before I moved in there.î
The council agreed to delay enforcement on the existing situations for 60 days.
