Wyoming Community Church is soon to be a church without a home.

Founded in 1996 as a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America, church members began by worshiping in the basement of the Chisago Lakes Evangelical Free Church and within a few months moved to the Wyoming Elementary School.

In 1998 the congregation again moved, this time into the Wyoming Methodist Community Center where they have conducted services, Sunday School and youth ministries for seven years.

The church serves members from Wyoming and most of the surrounding communities. While always on the lookout for a permanent home, the need became critical when the Wyoming Methodist church announced plans for removing the community center and construction of a new fellowship hall this spring.

Pastor Daniel Patz, the elder board and members of the building committee have sought many alternatives for relocation. They have looked at purchasing land, buying an existing building or renting an existing building, but none of the options have yielded a viable place to relocate, Pastor Patz said.

ìAt first blush it seemed an easy task,î said church member Marie Holm.

ìHowever, there are many obstacles between cost of land going higher each year, zoning issues relating to where a church can be located, finding a good location with good visibility, selecting an area that will serve our members, etc.î

Other churches in the area have graciously offered to assist with temporary use of their buildings, but the members of Wyoming Community Church are hoping and trusting they will soon be able to have a home of their own, Holm said.

The church is seeking input from community members who may know of potential property or facilities available for rental or purchase.
