A silent auction that will take place Friday, Feb.11 at Forest Lake Elementary will raise funds for maintenance projects at Sharewood Forest Community Playground. The event is slated 6-8 p.m. during the parent-teacher organization school carnival but is not a formal PTO event. The silent auction is coordinated by parents Miranda Oliver and Terrica Carlson as a means to raise funds to help maintain the playground between Forest Lake and Forest View elementary schools. The playground has been the target of vandals during the past year. The maintenance fund will help cover future expenses at the playground. Oliver and Carlson are now contacting local businesses for donation of services or goods and items for the silent auction. Businesses may donate to the cause by contacting Carlson at 612-588-3033 or Oliver at 651-982-2913. ìThe school carnival is open to the public and we are encouraging all to attend,î the two men said.
