The Forest Lake High School gymnastics team got a break from a normal competiton when it competed at the Cambridge Bluejacket All-Around Meet this week. At most gymnastics meets, team scores are kept, but at the Cambridge Bluejacket All-Around Meet, only individual all-around scores were kept. The top ten all-around scores received trophies and 11-15 received medals.

Stephanie Sampair was the best Ranger of the day with a tenth place finish. Sampair scored an 8.6 on the beam, 8.5 on the floor, 8.35 on the vault and 8.6 on the bars for an all-around score of 34.05.

Tasha Tyler was the next best Ranger with an all-around score of 32.40. Tyler scored a 7.55 on the beam, 8.1 on the floor, 8.4 on the vault and an 8.35 on the bars.

In her first all-around competition of the year Cori Kettler scored a 7.0 on the beam, 7.1 on the floor, 8.3 on the vault and 7.95 on the bars for a total score of 30.35.

ìHaving put together a floor routine recently, she (Kettler) had four personal best at the meet,î Rangers head coach Nancy Ellias said.

Other Rangers having a good day were Chelsea Uram who had a 32.20 all-around score, Janel Duffy (31.95), Taylor Brett (31.65), Karine Becker (31.0) and Scotti Sampair (29.80).

ìWe had hoped to have more kids place, but they all had a pretty good meet,î Ellias said. ìOverall our scores were a bit lower than last year, but we had eight kids competing in the all-around competition which is wonderful.î

The Rangers next meet is Friday at Lakeville at 6:30 p.m.
