Roseville poses no threat to Rangers

Roseville proved to be little trouble for the Forest Lake High School wrestling team last Thursday as the Rangers won the match 57-15.
Nate Arcand won the 103 lbs. match for the Rangers by a 13-0 decision. Luke Opsahl (112) and Shawn Saxe (119) followed up with victories by pin, then Clay Harrison (125) won his match 28-13. Eric Morris (130) won a 9-4 decision, then Scott Jensen (135) won by pin.
Ken Janssen (140) won 22-6, followed by a pin by Patrick Taylor (145) and two more decision wins by Jordan Kolbow (152) and Lucas Munkelwitz (160). Ryan Turry (171) won by forfeit.
Roseville got its first points of the match with a 5-0 decision win at 189 lbs., then won the 215 lbs. and 275 lbs. matches.
Saturday the Rangers competed in the White Bear Lake dual meet. The Rangers started the meet with an 81-0 win over St. Paul Johnson.
Janssen (103), Opsahl (112), Harrison (125), Jensen (135), Taylor (140), Phillip Osterbauer (189), Dustin Bently (215) and Derek Peterson (275) all won by pin. Saxe (119), Eric Morris (130) and Kolbow (145) all won by decision. Lee Smith (152), Munkelwitz (160) and Turry (171) won by forfeit.
The Rangers next opponent at the White Bear Lake dual meet was Centennial. While Centennial was not a pushover like St. Paul Johnson, the Rangers still won easily by a score of 56-18.
Charlie Janssen (103), Harrison (125), Morris (130), Ken Janssen (135), Taylor (140), Osterbauer (189) and Peterson (275) all won by pin. Opsahl (112), Saxe (119), Kolbow (145) and Munkelwitz (152) won by decision.
In the final match of the meet, the Rangers faced Coon Rapids in a winner take all match.
Charlie Janssen (103) and Peterson (275) both won their matches by pin and Taylor (145), Kolbow (152), Munkelwitz (160) and Osterbauer (189) won by decision. Despite the Rangers efforts, Coon Rapids won the match 31-24, giving the Rangers a second place finish at the dual.
The Rangers next match is today, Thursday, as the Rangers take on Hastings at Hastings at 7:30 p.m.
