Strong competition made for a frustrating week for the Forest Lake High School gymnastics team.
Last Thursday the Rangers competed against Suburban East Conference opponent Stillwater. Stillwater narrowly beat the Rangers 147.025-139.925.

ìWe had a very good meet, by they (Stillwater) also had a superb meet,î Rangers head coach Nancy Ellias said. ìWe hit our team high with a score of 139.925, but Stillwater set a school record with their amazing 147.025 points.î

Ashley Morris had a personal best in the all-around and vault and beam. Morris scored a 8.75 on the vault, 9.15 on the beam, and 35.325 in the all-around competition. Tasha Tyler set new personal bests in the beam, floor and all-around. Tyler scored 8.5 on the beam, 9.05 on the floor and 34.55 in the all-around competition.

Chelsea Uram placed third on the beam with a 9.2. Chelsea Fitzmorris set new personal best on the vault (7.8), bars (8.375) and beam7.9. Taylor Brett set new personal best on the vault (8.45), beam (7.0) and floor (8.65).

ìOverall Iíd say we hit most of our routines,î Ellias said. ìWe still had a few falls on the beam, floor and bars, which when cleaned up can lift our score.î

The next night the Rangers fell to Lakeville 144.25-132.775.

ìAfter such a high scoring and great meet the night before, it was kind of understandable we came out a little flat,î Ellias said.

Uram set a new personal best on the vault with an 8.75, as did Fitzmorris (8.2), Scotti Sampair (8.3), Stephanie Sampair (8.4) and Brett (8.6).

The Rangers next match is today, Thursday, when they host White Bear Lake at 6:30 p.m.
