Gustafson faces 2nd campaign charge

A second complaint charging Chisago County Commissioner Bob Gustafson with disseminating false campaign material has been filed with the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings. Curt Flug, the opponent defeated in the county board election in November, filed the complaint Jan. 12. On Jan. 13, Bruce Johnson, an administrative law judge, determined ìallegations in the complaint set forth prima facie violations of section 211B.06.î An evidentiary hearing before a panel of three administrative law judges for both complaints is set Tuesday, Jan. 25. In the complaint, Flug alleges several claims by Gustafson in advertisements printed in the Chisago County Press were false. In the ads, Gustafson states that he volunteered as the countyís recreation director for 15 years without pay and saved county taxpayers over $100,000 per year and that Gustafson gave the county park department $5000 to build a park. In the complaint, Flug alleges Gustafson is paid $5 an hour for 20 hours a week to manage the county recreation program and also collects fees from teams participating in the recreation program. The complaint also said allegations by Gustafson regarding per diems paid to Flug as a volunteer on the county comprehensive plan steering committee and that Flug ìbeggedî Gustafson to appoint him to the county planning commission are false.
