ISD 831 is in the market for a pair of elementary principals following school board approval of two resignations on Thursday, July 7.
Jill Schafer has resigned from her position at Linwood Elementary School while Dan Olberg has departed from his job at Lino Lakes Elementary School.
In her letter of resignation, Schafer said she has accepted a position of high school principal in Medford, WI. She has worked at Linwood Elementary for six years.
Olberg is leaving Lino Lakes Elementary after just one year of work. He was hired to replace Cam Hedlund who has moved to the Lakes International Language Academy, a public charter school in Forest Lake. Olberg, in his letter of resignation, said he has been offered a position in the Hutchinson school district as an elementary principal.
Contracts OKíd
The board at its July 7 meeting also approved a pair of employee contracts.
Contracts for the Forest Lake Association of Educational Office Professionals and technology specialists won board approval last week.
The 194 members of the FLAEOP union will receive salary improvement of 2.70 percent for the 2004-2005 year and 1 percent for the 2005-2006 school year.
Insurance benefits will increase by 0.36 percent in the first year and 1.02 percent in the second year of the contract for a total package increase of 5.08 percent. The labor group will drop to 184 members for the 2006 school year.
The union represents office, administrative assistants and instructional paraprofessionals.
The five-member technology specialist employees will receive salary improvement of 2.5 percent in 2004-2005 and 1 percent in 2005-2006. Insurance benefits will increase by 0.50 percent in the first year and 1.41 percent in the second year.
The total package increase over the two-year period is 5.41 percent.
The school board, as required by state law, approved a pair of structural balance resolutions that stipulate that contract settlement will not result in a structural imbalance in the districtís budget during the period of the collective bargaining agreements.
AA borrowing
The board last week also approved a recommendation to proceed with a plan to utilize aid anticipation certificates to offset cash flow shortages caused by legislative-approved delays in payments of state aid and local property taxes.
The approval last week will allow the administration to borrow $6.5 million for cash flow purposes.
