Most teams wouldnít like to play seven games in four days, but thatís what the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225 had to do this past week, plus an eighth game earlier in the week. In the busy weeks play Post 225 went 5-3.

Post 225 started their week last Tuesday with a 13-2 thrashing of Tartan. Post 225 scored 10 first inning runs, allowing them to sit back and take it easy the rest of the game.

ìThat was a good start to the game,î Post 225 coach Kale Henry said.

Zack Guttormson was the winning pitcher for Post 225 as he pitched three innings and Jed Hanson and Trip Schultz each pitched an inning.

ìIt was nice to be able to save our arms for the tournament later in the week,î Henry said. ìOffensively everybody hit well. It wasnít just one guy who contributed, we all swung the bat well.î

Over the weekend Post 225 participated in the Minnesota Gopher Classic Tournament.

Post 225 opened the tournament with a 6-5 victory over White Bear Lake.

Schultz pitched five innings for Post 225 and had a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth inning but a few errors and bloop hits gave Post 225 a 5-2 deficit. Post 225 scored four runs in the seventh inning to pull out the win as Hanson was credited with the victory and Guttormson the save.

Schultz had a game tying two run double and was later brought home by Hanson who had a double right down the line. Andrew Pooch was 3-3 in the game.

Later in the day Post 225 lost 5-3 to the Rochester Patriots.

ìThat was a tough loss,î Henry said. ìWe left the bases loaded three times and left a lot of runners on base. We just couldnít get the clutch hits.î

Guttormson started the game on the mound for Post 225 but left the game with an injury and David Gauerke came in and was credited with the loss. Jeff Brooks also pitched.

Rochester hit a two run home run in the top of the seventh inning to win the game.
ìIt was a well played game by both teams,î Henry said.

Saturday Post 225 beat St. Louis Park 8-2. Erik Zentzis pitched his first start of the year and went four innings.

ìErik pitched strikes and gave us a chance to win,î Henry said.

He pitched an excellent game.î

Sunday Post 225 had an impressive 2-0 win over Rapid City, SD. Going into the game Rapid City had outscored their opponents 38-4.
Hanson threw a three hit shutout that included him getting out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the middle of the game.
Post 225ís offense came off the bat of Pooch who hit a two run home run.

ìThe kids were excited and it was an emotional game as Rapid City is a quality program,î Henry said.
Later in the day Post 225 lost to Wayzata 6-0.

ìWe made some mistakes and didnít execute on some of the little things,î Henry said. ìWe hit balls at people and got frustrated by their pitcher.î

Monday night Post 225 had to finish a game against South St. Paul that was suspended by rain earlier in the season. Post 225 won the game 4-3 as Brooks got the game winning hit. Andy Norbin was credited with the win.

Post 225 also played Woodbury and lost 2-1.

ìIt was a very good baseball game,î Henry said.

Woodbury took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Bobby Hager tied the game with a lead-off solo home run.
Post 225 plays a double header tonight, Thursday, at The Ballpark at Schumacher Field against Stillwater with the first game starting at 5:30 p.m.
