Thieves target cars over the weekend

A rash of thefts this week had several cars broken into and a go-cart and canoe stolen.

Two of the vehicles that were broken into were located in the 800 block of 4th Ave. The incidents both happened on Saturday. One of the complainants reported that nothing was missing from their car but the other vehicle was missing a CD player valued at $140.

A third vehicle break-in was reported Saturday in the Southwest Junior High parking lot. After the complainant returned to their car they noticed that CDs, and a cell phone were missing.

Last Wednesday a diaper bag was reported stolen from a car parked in the Northland Mall parking lot. Inside the diaper bag was a camera and a wallet containing the complainantís driverís license and checkbook.

A canoe was reported stolen from a residence in the 9000 block of 219th St. last Thursday afternoon. The canoe is a Grumman 17 foot aluminum tan canoe with a hull ID number of 908GMS17 with Minnesota registration number MN 6467GQ. Three days later a red go-cart was reported stolen from the 23000 block of Hilo Ave.

It was a tough weekend for motorcyclists as two motorcycle accidents were reported.

The first motorcycle accident was reported Saturday evening at the entrance to the Amoco station on W. Broadway.

Sunday evening another motorcyclist had some trouble on his bike when he lost control on I-35 just north of TH-97 as he was rounding a curve in the road. Witnesses claim the driver of the motorcycle was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. No injuries were reported.
