Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. neighborhoods throughout Forest Lake are invited to join thousands of communities nationwide to celebrate the National Night Out. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. During the National Night Out residents in Forest Lake and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Forest Lake Police Department officers will be visiting several blocks during the course of the night. The Forest Lake Fire Department and North Ambulance will also visit neighborhood block parties, bringing along some of the equipment they use in emergencies. Anyone with questions or who may be interested in registering a block party with the Forest Lake Police Department should contact Officer Lafferty at 651-464-5877. The deadline for registration is July 26.
