FL Floral has top float in FL parade
Forest Lake Floral & Garden Center had the top float and the Chisago Lake High School Band was the top marching band in Mondayís 81st annual Independence Day Parade in Forest Lake.
The annual parade attracted 150 units plus a fly over of vintage war planes to open the march down W. Broadway Ave. and Lake Street (US-61). No official estimate for the number of parade spectators was made by city police this year.
Forest Lake Floral & Garden Center claimed trophies for best local float and the VFW Post 4210 Award for Excellence. The flower-covered float promoted the 75th anniversary of the business.
The Lindstrom band won trophies for best marching band and best drill squad. The Forest Lake Combined Junior High School Marching Band is not eligiible to compete for awards in its home town parade.
