Deemed this yearís best musical at Sunday nightís Tony Awards, ìMonty Pythonís Spamalotî has received numerous praise across the United States for its comedic take of the movie ìMonty Python and the Holy Grail.î

And an actor with Wyoming roots is featured in the award-winning show.

Christopher Sieber, who graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1988, plays Sir Dennis Galahad as well as a variety of other characters in ìSpamalot.î The Broadway show is based at the Shubert Theatre in New York and stars such actors as David Hyde Pierce and Tim Curry.

ìSpamalotî took three of the 14 nominations received at the prestigious Tony awards. One of those nominations was for Sieberís work, as he received a nod in the ìBest Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musicalî category.

Though he did not win, Sieberís nomination helped ìSpamalotî receive more nominations than any other show at the Tony Awards.

ìHe was really pleased that he just got nominated,î described his mother Caron, who still lives in Wyoming.

She said that the role in ìSpamalotî is quite fitting for her son. In high school, ìMonty Pythonî was one of Sieberís favorite movies.

ìHe and his friends would watch Monty Python throughout the whole weekend,î said Caron. She added that they would mimic the show as well.

So when ìSpamalotî director Mike Nichols, who directed the classic film ìThe Graduateî and more recently ìCloserî, personally asked Sieber to be in the show, the decision was easy.

Always an actor

Between his early days of performing locally (he has wanted to be an actor since sixth grade), to his success on the Broadway stage, Sieber was involved in a variety of acting gigs.

He moved to New York City after high school to attend the American Music and Dramatic Academy. Sieber received accolades for his first job as the lead role in ìSinging in the Rainî in South Carolina. He continued to take part in successful stage productions and made appearances on daytime soaps ìAll My Childrenî and ìAnother World.î

But it was in 1998 that Sieber got his star television role. The ABC show, ìTwo of a Kindî put him at the helm of a cast that included popular actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Sieber played the girlsí father. In 2003, he was cast as a regular in the ABC TV series, ìItís All Relative.î
