2 churches in FL hit by nighttime burglars

Two churches in Forest Lake were the targets for burglars Sunday night or early Monday morning, city police said.

The burglaries were reported at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1007 Scandia Trail N. and Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9300 Scandia Trail N. Both churches are on TH-97.

Chief of Police Clark Quiring said a small amount of cash was taken from the Methodist Church. At Hosanna, $50 in cash was stolen and the church office received $1500 in property damage.

Quiring said officers found a door on the east side of Hosanna had been propped open with a rock. It is likely the rock had been placed in the door at some point on Sunday and wasnít noticed by church officials, the chief said.

Both burglaries are under investigation.

City police are also investigating a burglary at the construction site for the Roberts-Eckert Funeral Home, 555 SW Centennial Drive.

The contractor reported the nighttime burglary to police Tuesday morning but full details were not available.

2 men arrested

Thanks to a call from an apartment resident, two St. Paul men were arrested after they were allegedly seen going through cars in the parking lot at Hillcrest Apartments, 1255 SW 11th Ave.

Police were called at 3 a.m. Tuesday and arrested two men in the parking lot. Taken into custody were Paul Wilson, 41, and Andre J. Wilson, 38, both of 1230 Selby Ave. in St. Paul.

They were booked in the Washington County jail on probable cause of misdemeanor theft and possession of burglary tools.
