Art competition seeks entries
Congressman Kennedy today extended an invitation for all high school students to participate in the 2005 Congressional High School Art Competition.
ìI encourage all the talented students in the Sixth Congressional District to participate,î said Congressman Kennedy. ìI know we have promising artists in the district, and I cannot wait to decorate the walls of my office with their work.î
This national art competition honors the talents and abilities of students at the high school level, grades nine through twelve.
Since 1982, nearly 4500 local contests have been conducted involving more than 650,000 students.
The winning entry will be sent to Washington, D.C., along with art from students throughout the country, and will be prominently displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol. Other winning entries will be displayed in our District Offices in Buffalo, St. Cloud, and Hugo.
The winning student will also be invited to attend the unveiling of the student artwork in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, June 14.
In addition, the Savannah College of Art and Design will award a scholarship to any student accepted to the college with the winning entry from each Congressional District.
All artwork must be received in Congressman Kennedyís Buffalo District Office by Monday, May 9. A panel will meet to judge the entries by Monday, May 16.
Students are responsible for any postage needed to mail their entries to and from the District Office, or entries may be dropped off at any of our office locations and picked up after the competition is finished.
Congressman Kennedy will congratulate the winners on May 23.
All entries should be sent to or dropped off at: 1111 Highway 25 North Suite 204 Buffalo, MN 55313
