After going 9-17 in the regular season, the Forest Lake High School boys basketball team was hoping to turn things around and go on a winning streak as they entered 4AAAA play last Thursday night against North St. Paul.
The Rangers chances of turning things around started to fade in the first quarter when North St. Paul jumped out to a 16-11 lead that grew to 32-24 at the half. North St. Paul continued to pressure the Rangers in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 51-39 by the end of the third quarter.
The Rangers outscored North St. Paul 19-15 in the fourth quarter, but it was too late to mount a comeback as North St. Paul won the game 66-58.
Junior Nate Robertson led the Rangers in scoring with 16 points, senior Noah Lawson was close behind him with 14 points, and sophomore Josh Williams scored 12 points.
Robertson led the Rangers in scoring for the season with 368 points, averaging 13.6 points per game. Robertson was followed by Lawson with 260 points on the season and Williams with 189 points.
The loss to North St. Paul ends the Rangers season. The Rangers finish the season with an overall record of 9-18 and 3-11 in Suburban East Conference play.
