Faith Lutheran Church plans annual father-daughter ball
Faith Lutheran Churchís second annual Father-Daughter Ball is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at the New Scandia Community Center, 14727 - 209th St. North, Scandia.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with a buffet dinner by Swensonís Catering from 5:30-6:30 followed by dancing to Christian DJ Lynea Mester from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Fathers and father-figures are invited to bring their daughters of any age to spend some quality time with dad and experience an evening of dinner and dancing.
The father-daughter relationship is very important in the development of a young womanís self-esteem, according to Dr. James Dobson, renowned child psychologist.
In December of 1992, James Massery, of Pittsfield, MA, was listening to a radio broadcast by Dr. Dobson, and after prayerful consideration was struck with the idea of a father-daughter dance.
The dance was a huge success, and Massery has been helpful in guiding churches and communities across the nation in sponsoring their own father-daughter celebrations.
The ìdate with dadî is the spiritual highlight of the evening, and provides ìan invisible umbrella of love and security that must be seen to be understood.î
By providing a safe, loving environment such as a father-daughter ball, the aim is to ìhelp dads set a good dating standard for their daughters, build a bridge of communication and respect between the generations, and help girls to experience the affection, respect and attention that their hearts craveî (James Massery).
Sharing in this vision, dads and their daughters living in Forest Lake and surrounding communities are invited to attend our Father-Daughter Ball.
A photographer will be present throughout the evening, and many door-prizes will be given away.
This is a non-profit outreach community event, not a fund-raiser. Fathers, father-figures and daughters of all ages are welcome.
For tickets, call Faith Lutheran at (651) 464-3323. Checks should be made out to ìFaithî with ìFather-Daughter Ballî in the memo line, and mailed to Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025. Enclose a SASE to have tickets mailed.
