Liquor compliance check in FL finds 1 illegal sale

A compliance check of all city of Forest Lake on-sale and off-sale liquor establishments last week saw only one business fail the check, police said this week.

The compliance check was carried out May 4 by city police who used a 20-year-old male who entered businesses and attempted to buy liquor or beer from retailers or be served alcohol at a bar.

The only misstep came at Mi Casita, 1432 S. Lake St., where the underage patron was served a beer without having his identification checked. The Mexican restaurant at Northland Mall only recently added beer to its menu.

The seller is under investigation for sale of alcohol to a minor with the case referred to the city prosecutor for consideration of a formal charge.
