Vehicles are targets for thieves in FL area
Burglars who target vehicles are still at work in Forest Lake, Chief of Police Clark Quiring said this week.
During the past week, city police received 10 reports of thefts from vehicles. Many involved unlocked vehicles, Quiring said.
Nine of the reports came over the weekend with most of the crimes reported in the 700 block of SW 12th St. where vehicles parked in parking lots were hit.
In five of the reports, AM-FM stereo systems and CD players ranging in value from $100 to $350 were stolen. CDs were also removed from vehicles and in one report 58 CDs were stolen, the chief said.
In addition to the stolen items, a number of the vehicles were damaged by the removal of stereo systems.
Quiring once again reminded city residents to remove personal items from vehicles that are parked outside and always lock vehicles.
