They may be young, but the Forest Lake High School boys track and field team is competing like a bunch of veterans as they placed fourth out of seven teams at the section 5AAA true team meet last Tuesday.
In the 3200-meter race Matt Mach took first place with a time of 10:15.73 with teammate Jamison Hull in fourth place (10:29.02) and Ben Brodin 10th (10:40.99).
In the 110-meter hurdles Matt Hansman and Geoff Cass went three, four respectively with times of 15.81 and 16.25.
Both the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams dropped their times by at least a second and the 4x800 team dropped 11 seconds off their time. Josef Maier had a personal record in the pole vault and Tyler Kleinhuizen placed third in the discus and Derek Peterson third in the shot put.
ìThe team had 14 out of 21 personal records on the track, the relay teams surpassed three of four goals and the field events had a lot of good performances,î Rangers head coach Paul Kendrick said. ìI think we put together our best meet of the year and the team is making strong gains as a young group.î
