Winning the last two regular season games of the season would mean the Forest Lake High School softball team would go from only wining two games all year in 2004 to a .500 team. The only problem is the Rangers faced first place Woodbury Monday night.

To get in the position to fight for a .500 season the Rangers battled Stillwater last Wednesday and won 2-1. Stillwater got a run off Rangers pitcher Jessica Griffith in the first inning, but then Griffith took over as she struck out six batters in the game while only giving up five hits in the complete game victory. The Rangers scored a run in the third inning to tie the game, then scored the go ahead and winning run in the fourth inning.

Two nights later the Rangers played Park (Cottage Grove) to the same score, the only problem was the Rangers were the team that scored the one run in the 2-1 game. Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning, then it became a pitchers dual as Griffith and the Park (Cottage grove) pitcher battled into the 11th inning when Park (Cottage Grove) finally scored a run on Griffith.

Griffith went the distance as she gave up nine hits, all but one of those hits were singles. Griffith struck out four batters.
The loss to Park (Cottage Grove) meant the Rangers had to win out their schedule to finish with a .500 record.
In Mondayís game against first place Woodbury the score was 4-0 Woodbury until a six run fifth inning did in the Rangers as Woodbury went on to win the game 10-0.
