Before the rain came last Thursday the Forest Lake High School boys tennis team had a slim 3-2 lead over Cambridge-Isanti. The two teams had to wait until Monday to finish the match and senior Chris Sobieck came through for the Rangers by earning the all important fourth point to seal victory for the Rangers.
ěThe win over Cambridge-Isanti was important for seedings in the upcoming section tourney,î Rangers head coach Greg Patchin said. ěIt virtually assures us a high seed in the south subsection, but more importantly, we are heading into section play with a modest winning streak.î
Other than Sobieck, the Rangers got points from Luke Odegaard, Jeff Kohler Dan Cromwell and the doubles team of Chris Albee and Ted Steiner. Odegaardís victory at the number one singles position gives him a 19 match winning streak.
ěLuke appears to be ready to go deep into the section tournament,î Patchin said.
The Rangers next match is Monday at the 7AA team sub sections.
ěItís the fun part of the season for the boys and I am happy for them,î Patchin said.
