Rockiní Hollywoods will rock Forest Lake June 3

It will be another summer of park fun and entertainment in Forest Lake but construction in the downtown is forcing some changes.

The city of Forest Lake Park Board Arts in the Park celebration will roll out its 2005 schedule on Friday, June 3 when the Rockiní Hollywoods return for an encore concert.

The popular 50sí rock-and-roll band will entertain at the Lakeside Memorial Park Gazebo Stage from 7-10 p.m. The kickoff concert is sponsored by Target of Forest Lake.

Throughout June and the first week of July, the gazebo stage will be the center point for the Arts in the Park summer entertainment schedule.

But that will change after July 11 when workers will begin a major parking lot improvement project and a Lakeside Park redesign project. The work wonít be completed until fall.

But throughout June the park will be the hot spot for summer entertainment.

When the construction work begins in July, the Arts in the Park schedule will shift to the grassy area in front of the beach house on E. Broadway Ave.

The area for the entertainment in July and August is smaller in scale but should still be an attractive area for the public to attend events, said Renae Reedy, parks coordinator.

The Farmers Market will operate next to the gazebo during June but will also shift to the beach building area for the balance of the growing season. This yearís Farmers Market will be limited to farm produce vendors only because of space limitations.

The Farmers Market will be in operation 5-8 p.m. every Tuesday evening.

Along with the Arts in the Park and Farmers Market, the area adjacent to the beach house will also be used for Hosanna Lutheran Church Sunday services that have taken place in the park in past years.

Other than scheduled events, the park will not be open for general public use after July 11 because of the construction, Reedy said.

The closure also includes the swimming beach and the boat launch area on the north end of Lakeside Park.
