Police give chase but fail to catch business vandals

Several businesses in Forest Lake were hit with vandalism late Friday night or early Saturday morning. In one case, officers saw a suspect running on foot but were unable to catch the person.

Businesses hit by vandals included the Ottomeyer Chiropractic Clinic, 967 S. Lake St., Forest Lake Accounting, 832 S. Lake St. in the Lake Shoppes, and Wine and Roses Liquors, 1107 S. Lake St.

Police called to the chiropractic office at 3:43 a.m. saw a suspect running to the east. Police gave chase and called in a Washington County Sheriffís Office canine unit but were not successful in finding the suspect.

Three windows on the east side of the clinic were broken.

In all three vandalism reports, rocks or landscaping stones were used to smash windows.

At the liquor store, two windows were broken and it appeared a Coke machine had been burned. Total damage estimate was $1500, police said. The vandalism was reported to police around 7 a.m. Saturday.

At Forest Lake Accounting, a police officer on patrol at 5:31 a.m. Saturday observed two windows to the Lake Shoppes office had been broken.

In a separate vandalism incident in Forest Lake, a woman at 6493 North Shore Trail N. told police on Sunday her vehicle was vandalized overnight.
