Windy, 37 degree temperatures didnít bother the Forest Lake High School girls golf team as they hosted the 24 team Forest Lake Invite Monday at Tanners Brook Golf Course.

Seventh grader Betsy Kelly placed sixth overall with her score of 85. Kelly had seven pars on the day. Behind Kelly was Sarah Berger who shot a 93, 46 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine. Berger had four pars on the day.

Eighth grader Mallory Messin had a season low score of 98, making it the first time she shot in the 90ís.

ìMallory is starting to become more consistent over her entire round,î Rangers coach Bill Loushine said. ìShe is eliminating the big scores for one or more holes. She practices hard to improve her game.î

The fourth score for the Rangers came from junior Ashley Weeda who shot a 99.

ìHer 44 on the back nine was nice to see,î Loushine said. ìIt was nice to finally put all four golfers below 100 and that is the reason we tied for fifth place.î

Nicole Tetrault and Emily Wislicenus also golfed for the Rangers, both finishing with a score of 111.

ìWe have now seen some of the Section 7 teams and it looks like Elk River is going to win and Grand Rapids would be second,î Loushine said. ìIf we can play as well in Hinckley as we did Monday who knows, maybe Forest Lake could be in the top three teams to come back on Memorial Day for a final 18 holes to determine who goes to state.î

The Rangers next event is today, Thursday, at Hinckley at 11 a.m.
