Veterans from throughout the Forest Lake area will be the guests of honors during the communityís Veteranís Day salute Friday night.

This yearís program will take place at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave. under sponsorship of Post 225 and VFW Post 4210 of Forest Lake.

The local observance is in keeping with the national program for Veteranís Day on Nov. 11, said Richard Weber, Post 225 commander.

Veteranís Day is marked each year on Nov. 11 and pays honors to the armistice that brought World War I to an end.

Fridayís program will be headed by Weber and VFW Commander Bob Harris.

The combined color guards of the Legion, VFW and the auxiliary units will take part in the program.

Guest speaker for the evening is Col. Jake Shetka, vice-commander, Minnesota Air National Guard, 133rd Airlift Wing, Fort Snelling.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the program, Weber said.

Food and refreshments will be served after the program.

ìWe look forward to a great turnout with the opportunity to honor our citiesí own veterans who have given so much,î Weber said.
