2 judges appointed to Stillwater court
Two new judges have been appointed to the Tenth Judicial District Court bench and will serve in Stillwater. Gov. Tim Pawlenty last week appointed B. William Ekstrum of Blaine and Kenneth Jorgensen of West Lakeland to fill the vacancies brought by the retirements of Judge Stephen Muehlberg and Judge Gary Meyer. Ekstrum, 57, has been an attorney and shareholder with the Fridley law firm of Newquist and Ekstrum since 1987. Prior to that, he worked with another Fridley law firm. Jorgensen, 48, has served as director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, an office he has been associated with since 1994. Both are graduates of the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. With the appointments, the governor has now appointed a total of 24 judges ó 13 men, 11 women. Pawlenty is expected to appoint a successor to retiring Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Kathleen Blatz in December. ó Tim Budig, ECM Capitol Reporter
